Deceased officer's family may get workers' compensation

Police officers put their lives at risk every time they report to work. Even what is originally believed to be a simple traffic stop can quickly turn into a life-threatening event for officers in Missouri and other areas of the country. Unfortunately, police in another state are currently working to fully understand the recent events that led to the death of an officer and may leave his family in need of workers' compensation insurance benefits.

The incident that led to the officer's death occurred in the early morning hours of a day in early November. According to reports, the 30-year-old officer conducted a traffic stop. Although details regarding the incident are unclear, officials claim that the officer became involved in a "scuffle" with the driver and somehow became entangled in the driver's vehicle.

The first officer was discovered at the scene, suffering from severe injuries. He passed away after being transported to the hospital. The car involved in the traffic stop was reportedly found approximately two blocks away. The driver was deceased, reportedly as a result of a single-car accident. Social media reports indicate that additional help was initially requested for an officer-involved shooting.

Authorities are likely working to fully understand all of the events that led up to the men's death. While investigations are ongoing, surviving family members are often left facing the financial consequences of an unexpected loss, including funeral costs and lost wages. Fortunately, they may qualify for workers' compensation insurance benefits. People in Missouri who are entitled to such compensation often ask a professional with experience with guide them through the process.
