Criminal defense: Fraternity house incident leads to arrest

Emotions can often run high on or near a college campus. However, violence as a result is relatively rare. Unfortunately, police have recently arrested a college student following an alleged assault near the University of Missouri, likely leaving the young man considering his criminal defense.

The incident that led to the man's arrest appears to have happened on a day in early December. Reports indicate that it occurred at Delta Upsilon fraternity house which is currently being rented by a different fraternity. Police become involved in the incident when they met with the alleged victim at the hospital.

According to the victim, the altercation happened due to a disagreement over a female. Specifically, the alleged victim claims that the defendant was upset about a female who had kissed a fraternity member. Police claim that the victim suffered a missing tooth and a broken jaw.

The details regarding the incident are scarce; however, a young man is now facing criminal charges as a result of the alleged encounter. The outcome of the charges against him could have a significant impact on the rest of the man's life, potentially affecting his ability to remain enrolled at the University of Missouri. As a result, the decisions the student makes now are critical. To help ensure that he fully understands his options as well as the potential consequences of each, he may choose to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney who can help guide him through the criminal justice system. By doing so, defendants can have confidence in the decisions that they make, whether they decide to fight the charges in court or accept a plea deal.
