Personal injury: Man charged following Missouri crash

People are often prepared to respond to a variety of different scenarios when driving. Unfortunately, there are some incidents that are difficult to predict that have dangerous consequences. For example, a woman in Missouri recently suffered a fatal personal injury in a crash.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in early February. According to reports, a car driven by a 28-year-old woman was involved in an incident at a truck stop described as a "disturbance" in police reports. As a result, the woman apparently lost control of her vehicle.

Her car then crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic where it unfortunately struck another vehicle head-on. Her death was announced approximately a week after the crash. The driver of the other car believed to have been involved in the disturbance was located and charged with careless driving. Officials say that the incident is being referred to the prosecutor's office.

Unfortunately, a family is now facing the unexpected, likely preventable loss of their loved one. While many of the details of the accident are unclear, surviving family members could choose to file a lawsuit against the other driver if they suspect his negligence caused the accident. An attorney with experience with personal injury cases in Missouri can help the family examine their case and take the most appropriate course of action. If successfully presented, a court could order the driver to pay monetary damages that could help the grieving family manage the financial consequences of their loss. While such an outcome might do little to ease their grief, it can allow them to focus on their recovery rather than how they will meet their financial obligations.
