Workers' compensation: 2 injured, 1 missing in explosion

Because most employees in the United States know that there are potential dangers in the workplace, they often strive to avoid them. They follow all safety precautions, including wearing the necessary protective gear. Unfortunately, there is often little workers in Missouri and other areas of the country can do to protect themselves from explosions that occur unexpectedly. As a result, injured workers are often entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits.

Unfortunately, the severity of injuries suffered in a recent explosion in another state is unclear. Those who worked next door to the chemical plant where the explosion occurred claims they heard a "big kaboom" and could see items, such as metal lids, blowing through the roof. One witness also describes a sulfur smell.

Although the local fire department responded to the fire and several others were routed there, emergency responders did not enter in the immediate aftermath for fear of other explosions. Reports indicate that two people were injured. At least one person suffered serious burns and was flown to the hospital.

More details about the incident will likely be reported once the risk of injury at the site lessens and authorities, potentially including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, can conduct an investigation. In the meantime, the injured workers may require extensive medical interventions. Because of the toll that medical expenses and lost wages can create, and the complexity of the process associated with the workers' compensation insurance process, many who deserve such benefits in Missouri choose to seek guidance from an experienced attorney.
