Tree trimmer suffers fatal work-related injuries in apparent fall

When most people in Missouri think of dangerous occupations, police officers and firefighters who are required to run toward danger are often the first thing that comes to mind. However, many occupations hold risks of work-related injuries that are surprisingly high. For example, a tree trimmer in another state has recently lost his life in a work accident.

Reports indicate that calls regarding the accident came in at approximately 12:40 p.m. According to first responders, the victim was a 36-year-old man. He was reportedly employed by Arborwell Inc., a maintenance and tree-trimming company. Reports indicate that he had been working on trees at a university housing complex at the time of the incident.

Witnesses claim that he had been in a tree that is approximately 30 feet tall with a chainsaw just prior to the accident. He was discovered lying on the ground next to the tree. Rescue workers reported that he died at the scene. Officials with the company claim that he died in a "climbing-related accident." The incident remains under investigation.

Employers are responsible for ensuring that their employees are safe. Unfortunately, even when health and safety standards are followed as required, workers remain at risk of suffering work-related injuries. As a result, states, including Missouri, require employers to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits that can extend to certain loved ones in the event of a fatality such as this. Because of the complicated process in a time already filled with stress, many people who deserve such compensation choose to seek help from professionals who have experience with such benefits.
