Woman killed in Missouri car accident

There are many steps that drivers can take to ensure their personal safety and prevent an accident as a result of their actions. Unfortunately, despite their desire to drive safely, drivers in Missouri and across the country cannot control the actions of others and, in certain circumstances, may be unable to respond in time. In fact, a woman recently lost her life in a car accident that she may have been powerless to prevent.

The accident happened during the early morning hours of a day in late June. According to reports, a 63-year-old woman was headed east on a Missouri roadway. Though many details about the accident are unclear, police say that a car driven by a 22-year-old male overtook the woman's vehicle, striking it.

Both vehicles exited the road and struck trees. The woman passed away due to the injuries she suffered. Both the younger driver and his 20-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash and were transported to the hospital. It is unclear if police expect that charges will be filed as a result of the accident.

While the accident likely remains under investigation, a family is now left unexpectedly planning a funeral.
