Charlie, a partner since 2008, graduated in 1998 with a B.A. from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. Charlie received his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia Law School in 2001. Charlie was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2001, as well as the United States District Court in 2001. Charlie began his legal career in private practice in Jefferson City, Missouri. Following a move to the St. Louis area, Charlie worked in the practice area of insurance defense at a downtown St. Louis law firm.
Charlie focuses his legal practice in the areas of workers' compensation, personal injury, social security disability, medical malpractice, wrongful death, general civil litigation, and employment law. Charlie served as Prosecuting Attorney for the City of Crystal City from 2004-2007. Charlie has been a guest speaker and lecturer for various civic organizations and educational programs, serving as an Adjunct Professor at St. Louis Community College and guest lecturer and Adjunct Professor at Jefferson College at various times.
Charlie is a member of the Missouri Bar, Missouri Bar Workers' Compensation Committee, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, American Association for Justice, Hillsboro Community Civic Club and Hillsboro Rotary Club. Charlie is a fellow of the Missouri Bar Foundation. Charlie has served as the President of the Jefferson County Bar Association and the President of the Hillsboro Rotary Club. Charlie is a member of the Board of Directors of Pony Bird, a residential care facility that provides 24-hour care for developmentally disabled, non-ambulatory children and adults, and currently serves as Board Chairperson. Charlie also serves on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.
In 2013 Charlie was honored by the Missouri Bar, in being selected as the 2013 recipient of The Tom Cochran Community Service Award. The Tom Cochran Community Service Award is presented annually by the Young Lawyers' Section of The Missouri Bar to a lawyer whose service and professionalism have significantly enhanced his or her community. Charlie has also been selected to the Super Lawyers-Rising Stars list of attorneys for Missouri and Kansas in 2011-2015. Charlie was named to the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers list in 2016-current. The Super Lawyers listing is an annual multi-stage process that includes surveys of attorneys from the two states to identify attorneys with a high degree of both professional achievement and peer recognition, independent evaluation and peer review. In 2014, Charlie became a member of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers. The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state in the nation who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense trial lawyers. In addition, Charlie has attained an AV® Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. AV® Preeminent Rating is the highest rating available from Martindale-Hubbell, the leading independent attorney rating entity. An AV® Rating signifies that the lawyer has reached the heights of professional excellence.
